The story is about a child with Treacher Collins Syndrome trying to fit in with other kids as he enters a mainstream elementary school for the first time in his life.
Treacher Collins Syndrome is a genetic disorder characterized by facial deformities. It is named after English surgeon Edward Treacher Collins (1862-1932) who first described its traits in 1900. Although incurable, the syndrome can be treated with reconstructive surgery and therapy.
