James Cagney delivers a dazzling performance in this acclaimed 1942 film biography.

Cagney portrays George M. Cohan (1878-1942) was a playwright, composer, lyricist, actor, singer, dancer and theatrical producer who is considered the father of musical comedy. His groundbreaking Broadway shows include 1904’s “Little Jonny Jones” which introduced his signature song, the patriotic “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”

The film overflows with some of Cohan’s most beloved tunes and won Cagney the Academy Award for Best Actor. George M. Cohan died just five months after the film’s release.
