The Backstage Bar is a cozy and welcoming tavern located inside the Theater Square complex owned by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is an economic and cultural development organization established in 1984 It came into existence largely due to the initiative of local industrialist Henry John Heinz II (1908-1987), the grandson of Henry John Heinz (1844-1919) and founder of the food giant H. J. Heinz Company.
Theater Square was designed by Michael Graves, who is considered one of the leading architecture of contemporary style. It includes a cabaret, backstage bar, restaurant, parking garage and ticketing services for shows in the Pittsburgh Cultural District. Groundbreaking public radio station WQED-FM also operates a studio out of Theater Square.
The Backstage Bar serves an outstanding list of premium wines, spirits, specialty drinks and beers to complement the fun and casual food menu and often features live entertainment with no cover charge.
