The Big Idea is a nonprofit bookstore, café and literary center that opened in 2001.
Managed in a directly democratic, anarchist model, this cooperative store strives to provide literature that is multicultural, class-conscious and anti-militaristic that promotes a sustainable community and world.
The store’s café strives to serve food and drinks from local, organic, seasonal, fair trade and sustainable sources whenever possible. The menu is all vegetarian and has several gluten-free options.
STANDARD HOURS:
Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Monday, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
