Idlewild is a popular amusement park located in rural Westmoreland County established by Pittsburgh prominent banking family, the Mellons, in 1878. The family continued to own it through the early 1950s.

The fun attractions at Idlewild include balloon rides, a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round and a rollercoaster, among others. The park’s Soak Zone provides lots of wet activities like slides, a wave pool and rafting.

The park is also home to the Ligonier Highland Games, a Scottish athletic and cultural festival that has annually drawn over 10,000 spectators.

STANDARD HOURS:
The park is open warm weather months most days from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
