Mervis Hall is home to the University Of Pittsburgh’s business school, officially called the Katz Graduate School Of Business. It’s named after alumnus and businessman Louis Mervis (1898-1978), who was a member of the university’s Pittsburgh Panthers football team.

Commonly known locally as Pitt, the University of Pittsburgh is a state-related research university that began in 1787. The university is comprised of 17 undergraduate and graduate schools located in various buildings in the city’s Oakland neighborhood — effectively making it Pitt’s campus.

Mervis Hall was dedicated in 1983 on part of what was the site of the legendary Forbes Field (1909-1971) baseball park. The building is an impressive modern building sheathed in glass panels. It was renovated in 2007 adding a financial lab completed in 2008 which simulates global financial markets. The lab provides students with real-time stock market data and features a financial trading simulator, stock tickers, computer stations, live news feeds and classroom space.
