The Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media is the successor organization of the former Pittsburgh Center for the Arts/Pittsburgh Filmmakers.

Founded in 1945, Pittsburgh Center For The Arts (CFA) was a non-profit community arts campus that offers arts education programs and contemporary art exhibitions, providing services and resources for individual artists throughout Western Pennsylvania. In 2010, the center merged with the Pittsburgh Filmmakers media arts school and resource center. The combined entity reformed as the Pittsburgh Center for Arts & Media (PCAM)

PCAM’s magnificent campus is centered on the donated mansion of Charles D. Marshall (1867-1945), the co-founder of the McClintic-Marshall Construction Company which was later sold to steel giant Bethlehem Steel Company (1857-2003). The mansion’s design was inspired by Carolean style, an architectural movement popular in 17th century England following the restoration of the monarchy after a failed republican period.

The center is noted for hosting the first one-man exhibition for pop artist Keith Haring (1958-1990) in 1978 before he moved to New York City and became world famous for his works inspired by urban street culture.

Today, PCAM hosts exhibits, classes and offices for small arts organizations as well as an interesting and colorful gift shop.
