The Madison Arts Center is the home stage of Pittsburgh Playwrights.

Founded in 2003, Pittsburgh Playwrights is a professional theater company committed to developing and showcasing the works of local playwrights; from accomplished masters to promising new talents. The company seeks to nurture a racially and culturally diverse community of artists and technical specialists to hone their craft and to network creative opportunities.

The Madison Arts Center is a former elementary school constructed in 1902 (and expanded in 1929). The exterior features ornately decorated Romanesque-inspired doors and windows. The school is being renovated into a performance, exhibition and learning facility.
