Saint Vincent College is a Roman Catholic education institution founded in 1846 by German monk Boniface Wimmer (1809-1887). The college is rooted in the tradition of the Catholic faith and especially the heritage of the Benedictines, an order of monks created in 529CE by Benedict of Nursia (480CE – 543CE).

It is named in honor of Benedictine monk Vincent  (?CE – 677CE), who is recognized as a saint by the Roman Catholic Church.

The 200-acre picturesque campus is located in the Laurel Highlands,  a wooded region 55 miles southwest of Pittsburgh made up of Cambria County, Fayette County, Somerset County and Westmoreland County.

One of the campus’ most striking features is Saint Vincent Basilica, which in its own beauty reflects the beauty and richness of the college community’s Catholic faith. The Basilica, completed in 1905 and renovated for Saint Vincent’s sesquicentennial in 1996, is also a place of community and honor, where students receive honors during the college’s annual Academic Convocation.

Since 1966, Saint Vincent College has been the location for the Pittsburgh Steelers professional football team’s training camp.
