Synod Hall is the archival center for the Roman Catholic Diocese Of Pittsburgh and a performance venue adjacent to Saint Paul Cathedral.

The diocese was established in 1843 and includes over 200 parishes in six counties. Saint Paul Cathedral is considered the “mother church” of the diocese and provides a worship community for Catholics in the city’s vibrant Oakland neighborhood. It’s named in honor of Paul (5CE-57CE), an early Christian who is believed to have written important parts of the Bible’s New Testament.

Completed in 1906, Saint Paul Cathedral is a handsome gothic structure rising 247 feet with a statue of St. Paul mounted on the center pediment. Synod Hall echoes the cathedral’s style and is located right behind the cathedral.
