Local filmmaker Tony Buba presents his fascinating new docudrama about Benjamin Lay (1682-1759).
Benjamin Lay was an English-born writer, farmer and activist who demanded an end to slavery almost 300 years ago. A hunchback with a protruding chest, Lay was roughly four feet tall and referred to himself as “Little Benjamin.”
In this film adaptation, actor Mark Povinelli embodies the visionary Lay, challenging us to live with courage and conviction in dark times, bringing a forgotten hero back to modern public memory.
