Henry “Taj Mahal” Fredericks has become a towering musical figure since first hitting the stage as a college student in the 1960’s.

A brilliant artist with a musicologist’s mind, Taj has pursued and elevated the roots of blues music with boundless devotion and skill. By tracing compositional origins to the American South, the Caribbean, Africa and elsewhere, he repeatedly creates entirely new sounds. No one is as simultaneously traditional and avant-garde.

His stage name is a reference to the famous marble mausoleum in India constructed by a 17th century emperor for his late wife. It came about after Henry had inspiring dreams about famed Indian attorney and activist Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948).

This is an “all-ages” concert.
