The fairgrounds are the home base of what is now called the Big Butler Fair.

Begun in 1865, the Big Butler Fair is a giant fair celebrating life of rural Butler County. The county is located north of Pittsburgh and is named in honor of General Richard Butler (1743-1791), who is considered a hero in the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783).

Facilities include a carnival area, stages and space for camping.
