The Jimmy Stewart Museum celebrates the accomplishments of stage and movie star Jimmy Stewart in a cozy, space above the library in the small town of Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Known for his distinctive drawl voice and down-to-earth persona, actor James “Jimmy” Stewart (1908-1997) specialized in play an average American with unusual subtlety in films such as “Mr. Smith Goes To Washington” (1939) and “It’s A Wonderful Life” (1946). He won the movie community’s highest acting award, the Oscar, for his performance in the 1940 film version of the play “The Philadelphia Story.” Stewart grew up in Indiana.
The museum displays original movie posters and photos beginning from the 1930′s. Awards and citations from Hollywood, film critics, the Boy Scouts and many other organizations from all over fill walls and cases. Jimmy has personally selected favorite mementos of his career.
A vintage-style movie theater routinely screens Stewart films featuring a state-of-the-art sound and projection system donated by Universal City Studios in Hollywood
