One of rural Westmoreland County’s most historic homes has become a part-time tea parlor and gift shops.

The Victorian Lady of Academy Hill is a Queen Anne-style home built circa 1884 by an attorney  as a wedding present for his daughter. It was later the family homestead for the clan behind Westmoreland County’s iconic Rathgeb Dairy for roughly 60 years.

A Queen Anne-style structure refers to the architectural style that first became popular in England during the reign of Queen Anne (1665-1714). The facades are typically box-like featuring rows of painted sash windows in boxes set flush with the brickwork.

The current owners, Carol and Jeff Kornides, reside at the house.
