Bakery Square is an innovative office and retail complex centered on a former industrial bakery.

That bakery began in 1918 as a major production facility for the National Biscuit Company (now called Nabisco) which continued to operate it through 1998. The building reopened in 2010 after an extensive renovation by local real estate development firm Walnut Capital. A piece of the Nabisco factory’s original equipment, a large dough mixer, was left standing in homage to the site’s industrial roots.

Anchoring the offices is a division of the technology giant Google. Retail tenants are primarily comprised of chain specialty shops. Bakery Square is also home to a Springhill Suites hotel. Apartments are being added.
