One of Pittsburgh most distinctive and historic skyscrapers is the Henry W. Oliver Building.

The Oliver Building was completed in 1910 to serve as the business headquarters for industrialist Henry W. Oliver (1840-1904).  As co-founder what evolved into the Oliver Iron & Steel Company (1897/1922-1956),  he helped to develop improved processes for steel making, brought about a new and improved design for blast furnaces, and assisted in helping to finance several of Pittsburgh’s large steel industries. Oliver was also key to making Pittsburgh a vital railroad hub.

Pioneering architect David Burnham (1846-1912) designed the building as per the parameters of its namesake’s will. The 25-story tower consists of a stone and terra cotta facade over a steel frame. Since 2015, the upper floors have been converted into a 228-room hotel.

The building is currently managed by McKnight Realty Partners.
