The Jewish Community Center Of Greater Pittsburgh provides a gateway to experience the richness of Jewish tradition and community while welcoming people of all backgrounds — Jews, Christians, Muslims and others — to participate in an environment that strengthens the physical, intellectual and spiritual well-being of individuals and families
It was created in 1960 through the merger of various community organizations, most notably the Irene Kaufmann Settlement which opened in 1895 to support the needs of recently immigrated European Jews.
The center’s main campus is located in the city’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood, a part of Pittsburgh that has been the focal point for the area’s Jewish community since the 1920s. Inside the handsome, brick building are classrooms, event space, fitness facilities, a performance hall and the American Jewish Museum.
