The Waterworks is a large, outdoor strip mall straddling the border between the city and the blue collar suburb of Blawnox.

Blawnox is a small town of 1,400 people whose name is derived from that of a company which once employed most of the population.

Anchor retailers at Waterworks include a Walmart discount department store, a Barnes & Noble Bookseller and a Giant Eagle grocer. Patrons also enjoy a multi-screen movie theater.

The mall is managed by the local commercial real estate firm J.J. Gumberg Company.
