The park is a small oasis of nature amid the city’s interesting west end neighborhood called Elliott.

Elliot’s closed proximity to downtown Pittsburgh quickly made it a popular and densely populated area during the city’s famous industrial period. However, the neighborhood began declining after this and a community group now seeks to reverse this trend.

The neighborhood’s most distinctive feature is the view of the downtown skyline provided by its location adjacent to Mt. Washington high above. The overlook — a concrete overhang — is a popular spot for amateur and professional photographers.
