“Cinderella” is a classic fairy tale of unjust oppression and triumphant reward. The tale first appeared in Greece around 7CE, but story as it is known today emerged 12th century France and solidified in 19th Century Germany. The basic plot is that of an oppressed young woman living in a miserable family situation who discovers her inner strength and outer beauty.
This version treats the tale as a historical drama with Cinderella renamed Danielle, a vibrant young woman who is forced into servitude until she meets a prince in disguise.
