The most famous work by Jewish Czech writer Franz Kafka (1883-1924, pictured) has been adapted into a fascinating play.
First published in 1915, The Metamorphosis tells the story of salesman Gregor Samsa, who wakes to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect. The novel focuses on Gregor’s struggles to adjust to this condition, as does his family.
The play brings to life the challenges facing the Samsas as Gregor suddenly becomes a useless burden.
