The Teutonia Männerchor is a private club founded in 1854 as an offspring of another organization (the word “teutonia” is in reference to one of the oldest German tribes).

As a private club, members are proposed for membership by other members. Prospective members must be age 21 and of good moral character and reputation. They agree to support the purposes of the club, which are to “further choral singing, our German cultural tradition and good fellowship”.  Both men and women can be full members.

The building was completed in 1888 and has been updated several times. A large hall used for club and outside events dominate the facility, which includes a basement restaurant called a “ratskeller.”
